What Wikipedia says about cross dressing.
An interesting government survey of 1032 cross-dressers, showing that most are straight, and many are married. The PubMed article includes a comparison with an earlier study, showing not a lot has changed.
Websites and organizations supporting cross dressing:
Crossdresser Heaven: Crossdresser Heaven provides a safe, welcoming and supportive environment (for primarily the transgender community, but straight male cross dressers are welcome). They offer resources to help you discover your woman inside; more than 900 articles, a vibrant community of more than 30,000 women, and a regular newsletter.
Society for the Second Self (Tri-Ess): an educational, social and support group for heterosexual crossdressers, their partners, the spouses of married crossdressers and their families. They believe that CD's are blessed with an additional facet to their personalities. If they accept their cross-gendered side, and explore it, they will find a broadening of the entire personality, which can be very fulfilling. They dress in emulation, rather than in mockery, of femininity.
